Featured build · Case study

The AMG Heist.

We built a widebody Mercedes-AMG GT, wrapped it in TeckWrap True Blood, and then did something most bodyshops wouldn't: made our own short film around it, themed on Money Heist. Here's the car, and the film the whole team made.

AMG Heist - Short Film

"AMG Heist", a 17-minute short film, filmed and edited in-house by the team at MSL Customs.

The build

A show car, start to finish.

The AMG started as a donor and left as a statement: widebody, slammed, and finished to a standard you'd expect on a stand at a show, not in a claims workshop. It's the same care and craft that goes into an everyday insurance repair, turned up to eleven.

  • Widebody conversionFull widebody kit fabricated and fitted, arches flared to swallow the wheels and give it real presence.
  • TeckWrap True BloodWrapped, not painted. A deep gloss red vinyl laid on in-house — TeckWrap UK is our sister company, so the material and the fitting come from the same roof.
  • Forged wheels, on the floorBronze forged wheels wrapped in our own branded tyres, sitting slammed over the arches.
  • Carbon & aeroCarbon splitter, canards and a GT wing, with the details finished to match.
The build

From standard car to show car.

The whole conversion, stage by stage. The middle of a build is rarely photographed and it's the part that actually shows the work.

  1. A standard white Mercedes-AMG GT in the MSL Customs workshop before work began

    How it arrived

A standard AMG GT. Quick, and good looking already, but the brief was for something nobody would mistake for a factory car.

  2. Widebody panels laid out unpainted on the workshop floor beside the AMG GT

    The kit, on the floor

Every widebody panel laid out and offered up before a single one goes on. This is where a conversion is won or lost: check the fit now, not after paint.

  3. An unpainted widebody front bumper in the foreground with the AMG GT behind

    First panels on

Dry-fitting begins. Panels are trimmed and packed until the gaps are even and the lines carry through from wing to door.

  4. The AMG GT with its front bumper removed and arches fitted

    Front end off

Bumper and lights out so the arches can be mounted to the body properly rather than sat on top of it.

  5. The AMG GT stripped with doors removed and the engine bay open

    Down to the shell

Doors off, engine bay open. Stripping this far is the only way to get paint into every edge and shut line, so nothing shows its old colour later.

  6. The widebody AMG GT outside the workshop on bronze forged wheels

    Standing on its own

Widebody complete and rolling on the forged wheels. First time the stance can actually be judged with weight on it.

  7. The AMG GT finished in deep gloss red TeckWrap vinyl inside the MSL Customs workshop

    Wrapped, not painted

The red is TeckWrap True Blood vinyl rather than paint, laid on panel by panel. Wrapping a widebody is the harder job of the two: every flare and vent has to be worked by hand, with no shortcuts round an edge.

  8. Rear three-quarter of the finished red widebody AMG GT with GT wing

    Aero and finishing

GT wing, diffuser and carbon detail fitted, then the whole car flatted and polished before it saw daylight.

  9. The finished red widebody AMG GT parked outside Harrods at Christmas

    Out in London

Finished, and out where it belongs. Knightsbridge at Christmas, which is about the only backdrop that doesn't get upstaged by it.

  10. The red widebody AMG GT on a show stand with a Money Heist themed costume

    On the stand

On display, in full Money Heist livery. The theme ran through the build, the film we shot around it, and the stand.
