Privacy Policy
How we look after your information. Last updated 31 August 2026.
Please note: this is a plain-English summary of how MSL Customs handles your data. If anything here conflicts with your rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, those laws take precedence.
Who we are
MSL Customs is an accident repair centre based at the Old BSA Building, 1 Armoury Road, Birmingham B11 2PP. For any privacy question, contact us at info@mslcustoms.com or 0121 766 6669. We are the "data controller" for the information you share with us.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to help you. Depending on how you get in touch, that may include:
- Your name, phone number and email address.
- Your vehicle details (registration, make and model).
- Details of your accident or the work you need, including any photos or videos you choose to send.
- Details of the other party and insurers involved, where relevant to a claim.
How we use it
We use your information to:
- Respond to your enquiry, provide an estimate, and arrange repairs.
- Manage your accident claim, including liaising with insurers and arranging recovery or a courtesy car.
- Keep you updated on the progress of your repair.
Our lawful basis is normally taking steps to enter into or perform a contract with you, and our legitimate interest in running the business and responding to enquiries.
Emails about our services
If you've asked us about a repair or a claim, we may occasionally email you service reminders, guides and updates about our own work. That's it. We don't email you about anyone else's products, and we never pass your details to another company for their marketing.
You can say no when you first give us your details, and every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Opting out of these has no effect on your claim or repair, and we'll still email you about the work itself. Where you've given us explicit consent instead, you can withdraw it at any time by replying to any email or ringing us.
Who we share it with
We never sell your data. We only share it where necessary to do the job, for example with your (or the other party's) insurer, a recovery or courtesy-car provider, or parts suppliers. We may also share information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we actually need it, then delete it securely. In practice that means:
- Claim and repair records, including any photos or video you send us: seven years from the date the claim closes. Motor claims can be revisited for several years, so we keep enough to defend or evidence one.
- Enquiries that don't become a job, such as an estimate you didn't go ahead with: twelve months.
- Contact details used for our emails: until you unsubscribe, and we review the list every two years to clear out anyone who's gone quiet.
Where a claim involves an injury, particularly to a child, we may need to keep the file for longer, because the time limit for bringing that kind of claim runs differently. Ask us and we'll tell you what we hold and why.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To exercise any of these, email info@mslcustoms.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
This website uses only the cookies needed to make it work and, where enabled, privacy-friendly analytics to understand how the site is used. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
